ZXClub.netZairs '90 tt rebuild thread Post Posted: Jun 26th, '12, 18:46

Not been posting much lately, but i have started working on the car. Not done much so far, but i have removed all the parts i had been storing in her and put them in the loft. I have also stripped out most of the interior exsept the carpet and dash as im just gonna work round them. I do have one problem already, the drivers door lock wont unlock from the outside or the inside so i have been unable to remove the door card. so if anyone has any ideas???
next jobs are gonna be to sand the stone chip off the sides and back end, remove the engine and wax oil the inside and underneath as there is no rust on her and i want to keep it like that.
I am on the look out for a couple of second hand parts:
fibreglass rear spoiler oem look
tt front bumper oem (maybe)

Did a few bits tonight. Got the drivers door open and removed the door card. I also took off one of the wings as it had been filled before and replaced it with one off my old silver car, I also sanded off the rough stone chip beforei fitted it. will be doing all the stone chip so if anyone has any tips they will be welcomed as its a slow job

heat gun and scraper for the stone chip, or a decent sand paper. could even try nitromors paint remover.

Did a little more tonight, spent about 1.5 hours sanding down the side of the rear bumper. Must be an easier way...
Hoping it will be easier on the metal work

A few updates, removed the plenum off the nakerd engine in the car so I can polish it up, looks like someone's been fiddling with it as there are several pipes blanked already, can anyone shed some light?
