well looks like i will be keeping it for now as i just ordered a new cover plate for another Exedy Hyper twin plate clutch and flywheel at a cost of £287 from the US.

This is the clutch that Japspeed sell for around £1800! and is a serious piece of kit.

So plan is when i get back

have the doors of the slickie
smooth out the swage line
spray them and the whole car satin black
fit the vertical door brackets as they will be too much weight for the slickie
fit the Mocal oil cooler with new lines
think ill fit the Greddy FMIC for the crack
Bomex sides and rear
smoothed tailgate
overfenders
viper wings

and anymore stuff that i ahve lying around that i figure ill fit.

Busy xmas for me

Dude, noooooo! That lot is FAIL!

You have good plans to ruin your car and make it UGLY! Shame, as it looks good as it is! :)

I've seen swage lines smoothed out and it makes the Z look like a blancmange mould. Vertical doors and viper wings are complete junk and why on earth do you want to turn it into a blackboard on wheels?

You have a great looking car there, why would you want to go and ruin it with cheesey mods? :arf:

May be selling it but as i have always said we each own our cars and therefore have to choice to do what we wish with them. I certainly wouldnt want to run with the pack and have a zed that looked the same as everyone elses :)

Same as everyone else's? Yeah because there are soooooo many Z32s about. Always makes me chuckle when people say 'I did that because I wanted to be different'. Seen some hilarious cars about as that was the owner's understanding.

  :wozzer:

Lol well i think my version of the `same` is a little differnet. See i wouldnt want a 99 spec spoiler, 99 spec front, standard body and so on as to me that is what other zeds look like. I think it is all about doing things that others havent done and displaying it as your own work which is different so someone who pays a garage to do all the work for them.

Likewise with things like my PS delete and cleaning up of the engine bay. Its things that i have trialed to show as what can be done.

Im not sure if other car forums are the same but it seems to be that everytime a picture of a zed gets put or someones project the immediate reaction is to say i dont like such and such. Happens on the other forum alot more i think though.

People have different tastes and different ideas are they wrong to have them? Like the civic lot at Japshow about 20 civics all in yellow all looking the same well thats a satnd i just walk straight past. Along with the rows of zeds looking the same i walk past those as well. Tidy and pristine is one thing and standard looking is another.

I personally like to see different ideas as it is soemthing that i may wish to use in the future. There is a couple of zeds at the moment that go against what the preachers say is right however they have piped up saying how much they love it.

Anyway good luck with your zed Si not my cup of tea dont like the wheels i think that style is better suite for FD`s

I just never see the point in doing something to something as beautiful as a Z32. Sure, with a Fiesta or Corsa as they are 10 a penny and they're dull as ditch water eurobox shopping cars. Can't imagine the Porsche buys will be having this conversation about putting cheese grater wings and lambo doors to their cars! LOL

I am not against car body modifications at all, in fact I like to see it, but there's a difference between that and cheesey billy-bolt-on modifications. I thought you had better tastes than that dude, that's all. :)

I have my same unique tastes like everyone. There is lots of things i dont like to see like pot rear lights, bubbly wide arch kit zenon i think it is and many other mods i consider naff. On my track car there will be a fair bit of carbon fibre which i know alot of people dont like but hey i have enough zeds to experiment.

I change my ideas all the time as i trial things and see whether i like them or not. Having seen Japslapper`s zed (my old shorty) and what he has done with his there is certain things i like that he has done that are totally against the grain.

I sold a set of viper wings that i had before as it wasnt the right taste for how the car was going to look. This is a differnet end product in mind like what Baz did with his and the rear overfenders i am just willing to try it out and see if it is what i like. If not then ill strip things off and change them its no biggy for me. Its not like i have to get the plans exactly right because im paying a garage or bodyshop to do it for me, i can just put the car back in the lock up and take it apart again, respray it and whatever i feel like changing. :)

I quite like over fenders actually. Not something I'd do, but I can appreciate them with the right wheels on the right car. I do think the viper wings will ruin that as well. Viper wings really are a complete and utter design fail on so many levels, not least because they look hideous. But I think if you went with over fenders, and some wacky wheels, you'd get a good look. :)

I don't like matte black paint at all, I'd rather cut my penis off with a rusty bread knife, but I have an idea on probably how you'd want yours to look. I have some photos of a matte black shortie with over fenders that I took at a meet I went to in Malibu with the guys from LAZ32. I'll dig it out when I am home tomorrow.

Now if it was a gloss black, it would look really cool. :)

I think i may just have the picture. However satin black is somewhat different to matte black as matte black gets very ropey very quickly.

I am not a fan of either finish. Reminds me of a black board and I feel the urge to write obsenity all over it with some nice virgin white chalk. The trouble with matte/satin paints is that they always look either a little unfinished, faided and/or dirty.

That's not the car I was talking about, it doesn't have over fenders on, just wide arches. I'll dig it out, pretty sure I still have them. They're on a memory card somewhere. :)

Back in the garage and got a few more bits done and the engine back in today

Mocal oil cooler added
PCV deleted making a very tidy engine
Chrome coolant pipes
Under drive pulley added
Chrome coil pack brackets
Black plenum added

Exedy clutch isn't going to go on this engine now as it would be a waste so I have a prov buyer for it :)

Here's the state of play I ended on tonight. She is looking so tidy in there I may just keep her as my labour isn't cheap :D I do have another jap car on the horizon though is it wrong to own 3 beasts?

Nice work mate, how did you do the PCV delete, I'm going to do this and seen a guide on TT.net, uses 2 mini filters. Any hints and tips would be good.

I looked at that way too but then someone said about the crankcase gases going into the intake which they do which is what I have now totally deleted.

PCV's on the plenum have been blocked off with bolts.
You have the 2 hoses that come from the rocker covers at the front these will be run to a catch tank and the ports on the intake pipes blanked. The 2 exits out the back of the rocker over that normally to to the pcv's, 1 will be blanked off and one will run into a T piece joining onto the front hose and ten to the catch tank.

This diagram I pulled from the other site should explain. I met with znut and saw he as a similar system which started me on it. His pipes run to atmosphere as there isn't actually any oil that comes out of these hoses so his just run to the ground.

I can do a more detailed thread on a how-to if you wish.
